Hello friends! I have such a fun card for you today. This has to be one of my favorite ones that I’ve made with the newest Hero Arts (HA) release. It has a striking black background and bright die cuts using the Cactus Fancy Dies with Metallic Sprays. I love a good dark background with bright and bold colors!

The spatter really brings out the metallics in the die cut pieces.

Step By Step Directions:

  1. Start by spraying inks onto white heavy weight white cardstock. Make sure to use cardstock that can hold a good amount of moisture. I used and combined Hero Arts sprays but you can still do this technique with whatever you have on hand (other sprays, Distress Oxides, Magical Powders etc.
  2. Die cut the cacti and flowers out of the different panels. Some panels had multiple colors that resulted in beautiful variations.
  3. Cut a panel of Pitch Black cardstock to 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches. Cut some of the other dies from the Cactus set out of black cardstock and apply to the panel for a tone on tone look. This gave a lot of interest without distracting from the bold colors.
  4. Mix Copper Perfect Pearls with water and splatter the black background. I wanted to mimic the metallics from the sprays and splatter makes everything better!
  5. Arrange and adhere the cacti to the panel using liquid glue.
  6. Stamp the sentiment in embossing ink and heat set using Brass embossing powder. Cut down and apply to the panel. You may need to add some scrap strips of paper or foam tape to the back due to the background texture.
  7. Finally, add the finished card front to a top folding A2 card base.
The sprays made “coloring” so easy!

Supply List:

*I apologize for the visual appearance/change in my supply list. I am trying to decide which platform is better. Please let me know what you think. Do you like the “Link deli” version where you can see images of the products and choose where to buy them? Or, it doesn’t matter as long as it takes you to a direct link?

I appreciate you visiting my site today! I hope you enjoyed the card inspiration and I hope you get the chance to try this fun technique!

Have a fabulous day!
