Hello my crafty friends! I am so happy that you could join me today for Hero Arts (HA) reveal of the October My Monthly Hero (MMH) kits. I hope you are ready for some frosty images and holiday themes. I always love to show both kits so let’s take a look at each and what they include.
Our October release transports you to a snowy night in the forest. This kit features a set of three gorgeous layering dies for building your wintry scene. A 3″ x 4″ stamp set supplies swirling snow and stars. There are four message dies with frames; very useful for the holiday season. We’ve included a fun new product making its kit debut – white acrylic spray! The Classic Kit is rounded out with a generous assortment of cardstock to enhance the theme.
Our October release transports you to a snowy night in the forest. This kit features a set of three gorgeous layering dies for building your wintry scene. A 3″ x 4″ stamp set supplies swirling snow and stars. There are four message dies with frames; very useful for the holiday season. The highlight of this expanded Premium kit is a set of three “peeking” animal dies. Add them to your winter scene for a whimsical touch. There’s also a 4″ x 6″ stamp set featuring images with a Nordic flare for building ornaments, flowers, snowflakes, and more. We’ve included a fun new product making its kit debut – white acrylic spray! A generous assortment of cardstock enhances the theme. The finishing touch to the Premium Kit is a set of beautiful vellum snowflakes.
This kit makes some absolutely gorgeous scenes. And let me tell you…the snowflakes in the Premium kit are AH-MAZ-ING! The prefect shiny silver.
To get started, I’d like to show you my card inspiration for the Classic kit. I try to think out of the box and switched it up a bit. Time to check it out!
Step by Step Classic:
- Take the tree with hills layering die from the classic kit and cut a border. The way that I cut it produced 2 trees. I cut it another time to get a 3rd tree. Set aside.
- Using the dusty blue cardstock from the kit, ink blend Dusty Blue, Blue Hawaii and Purple Galaxy reactive inks along with some Granite for a gorgeous night sky.
- Stamp the swirl snow with Blue Hawaii ink onto the background.
- Add stars using the 3 clustered stars with white pigment ink.
- To add a nice shine and sparkle to the background, apply a very light layer of the Silver Lacquer pen. You can easily do this with your finger. Set aside to dry.
- Cut the bare tree branches using the die from white cardstock and cut from the panel so they are stand-alone trees.
- Trim the dried ink blended panel to 4 by 5 1/4 inches.
- Adhere your snow and tree border and tuck in the extra tree using liquid glue. Add the bare trees to the edges of the panel. Cut off any extra.
- Apply panel to a card base.
- Die cut Merry Christmas 3 times from slate cardstock and stack for dimension. Apply at an angle to the background.
My next 2 cards include elements from the Premium kit. I kept each relatively simple.
Step by Step Premium:
- Cut a panel of Dusty Blue cardstock to 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches.
- Cut 1/4 inch strips of cardstock in your favorite colors. I used: White glitter, Nautical, Passion Flower, and Slate.
- Apply strips in the lower 1/3 of the card. Make sure you leave room for your sentiment below and enough room above for your snowflake.
- Stamp the sentiment with embossing ink and heat set with silver embossing powder.
- Choose your favorite snowflake patterns and adhere them offset to create an amazing larger dimensional snowflake. *Use very little glue or the vellum may wrinkle.
- Adhere small dots of liquid glue or dry adhesive to the back of the snowflake and adhere to the panel.
- Add the finished panel to a top folding card base.
Step By Step Premium 2:
- Cut a panel of white cardstock to 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches.
- Center the largest swirl snow stamp in the upper half of the panel.
- Using a stamp platform, lightly stamp the circle in a soft ink. I used Contour ink. Do not move it from your platform.
- Add stamping around the circle using your platform or an acrylic block. I kept the colors fairly traditional with reds, greens, and neutrals.
- Once you have filled your wreath, move the panel back to the platform and re-stamp the circle using embossing ink. Add embossing powder.
- Gently brush away any powder that is over your flowers/stamped images using a dry brush and heat set.
- Trim white panel to 3 3/4 by 5 inches.
- Die cut Merry Christmas from Palm cardstock 3 times and adhere together for dimension. Apply to the panel.
- Add the finished panel to a top folding Sand card base.
