Hello again crafty friends! I am excited to share the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero September 2023 kits with you today. I am totally ready for all things fall: pumpkins, hay rides, corn mazes…you name it. This month’s kits are bringing all those feels. So much fall goodness in a nice little package! Let’s take a look at the kits.

Our September release includes one of our most popular product combinations – a window die with coordinating layering stencils! In this beautiful fall-themed kit, the window is decorated with leaves and mushrooms, ideal for the autumn season. The kit’s 4×6 stamp set features decorated script messages which can nestle perfectly within the window. There are four ink cubes to use with the layering stencils, and a white lacquer pen for adding spots to your mushrooms – or for any other creative ideas you may have! And calling all shaker card aficionados – we’ve got you covered with clear card panels in the kit, too.

The Premium Kit includes additional elements to extend the potential for more cards and techniques – even more Creativity In The Box! In addition to all of the Classic Kit components, the highlight of our expanded kit is a 4″ x 6″ stamp set with adorable dancing critters. Use the images individually, or build a scene of them dancing around a bonfire in a pumpkin patch on a crisp fall evening! There are coordinating dies for the stamps as well as extra leaf and mushroom dies. Take your coloring up a notch by trying our Contour Ink, helpful for “no line” coloring. The Premium Kit is rounded out with two sheets of our shimmery Bronze Glitter Paper.
I have a few inspirational cards using both kits. Let’s get started with the classic kit with maybe some not so classic colors (I used a pink-ish color).
Classic Kit Step by Step:
- Cut a panel of Sand cardstock to 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches.
- Align the first stencil onto the panel and ink blend Butter Bar onto the panel. Using stencil B, ink blend Espresso and finally ink blend Raspberry jam through the last stencil.
- Using the detail stencil, add a bit of lacquer using your finger. Set aside to dry. *I used the sparkle clear lacquer but you could use the one in the kit.
- To make matching cardstock, cut a panel of white cardstock to 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches and add ink to the edges. I used the beautiful Raspberry Jam ink.
- Once the stenciled panel is dry, trim to 4 by 5 1/4 inches.
- Stamp the sentiment using embossing ink and heat set with bronze powder.
- Apply the stenciled panel to the inked DIY cardstock.
- Add finished card front to a side folding card base.
The next card is definitely a new favorite of mine. I wasn’t sure how this was going to turn out when I first started but it turned out great!
Premium Kit Step by Step:
- Using white cardstock, ink blend a panel with Butterbar, Papaya, Aegean, Deep Ocean and Intensified Black Ink.
- Die cut the panel using the Arches Infinity dies.
- Add water to Unicorn Pigment ink and spatter/splatter onto the ink blended panel for a starry look.
- Cut a panel of Sand cardstock to 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches and stamp with black pigment ink. Heat set with clear embossing powder.
- Add the arched “window” above the sentiment using liquid adhesive.
- Stamp, color and die cut the animal images from the kit as well as the fire.
- Adhere images to the panel using liquid glue.
- Die cut the small leaf images from white cardstock and color using your favorite medium.
- Apply the leaves across the panel like they are blowing in the wind.
- Add the finished panel to a top folding card base.
